Privacy policy

Fix-am is operated by Masku Technology Limited (RC6992098). This policy describes what Masku Technology Limited collects and does with your data through the Fix-am app.

Fix-am is not directed at children. You must be 18 or older to hold an account, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

What we collect

To create an account: your phone number, and your name once you complete signup. The phone number is verified with a one-time code — it is how we know an account belongs to a real, reachable person.

To match you with someone nearby: your approximate location, and the address you enter for a booking. Location is optional; you can type an address instead.

If you are an artisan: your approximate location is kept up to date automatically while you have the app open, so search results reflect where you're actually based rather than a stale, manually-entered location. This is used only for matching — it is never shown to a customer, including during an active job. We keep no history of where you have been, only your most recent position, and we never collect it in the background.

If you are an artisan: a government-issued ID document and a selfie, used once for identity verification. These are held in private storage that ordinary accounts cannot read, and are visible only to the staff who review verifications.

As you use the app: your bookings, messages, ratings, and a record of every payment, refund and payout on your account.

If you report another user: the reason and any details you give us, reviewed by our support team. If you block someone, we record that so you are not matched into a new booking together again — this is visible only to you.

Your device’s push-notification token, used only to deliver in-app alerts (new messages, booking updates, incoming calls) — never for advertising.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

We never share your phone number with the other party in a booking, before or after it is accepted. Coordination happens entirely in the app — chat and in-app voice calls.

We never see or store your card details, and we never hold your money. Payments are handled by our licensed payment partners, Flutterwave and Paystack — a payout or refund goes straight to a bank account through them, never resting as a balance with us in between.

We do not record in-app voice calls. Call audio passes through LiveKit in real time and is not stored by us or by LiveKit.

Who processes data on our behalf

Supabase — the database, sign-in, and file storage that the app runs on.

Flutterwave and Paystack — payments in and payouts out. Card details go to them and never to us; they hold the money, not us.

Smile Identity — identity verification for artisans (ID document and liveness check).

Termii — the SMS messages that carry your one-time codes.

Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) — the WhatsApp messages that carry your one-time codes; we send Meta your phone number and the code to do this.

Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — push notifications. LiveKit — in-app voice calls.

Several of these process or store data outside Nigeria. We only use processors that keep it to what the service needs, and we remain responsible for it either way.

How long we keep it

Account and booking records are kept while your account is open. Records of money movements are kept longer, because we are required to be able to account for every transaction after the fact.

Verification documents are kept only as long as needed to complete and evidence the check.

Your rights

You can delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. That removes your profile and personal details.

If you no longer have the app installed, email hello@fix-am.app from the number or address on the account and ask us to delete it instead — we'll confirm once it's done.

Some records must survive deletion — specifically, entries in the financial ledger. They are retained in a form that is no longer linked to your personal details, because a marketplace that cannot account for money it has moved is not one anyone should trust.

To ask what we hold about you, to correct something that's wrong, or to raise a concern, email hello@fix-am.app. If you're not satisfied with how we handle it, you may also complain to Nigeria's Data Protection Commission.
