Terms of service
The agreement between Fix-am, the customers who book work, and the artisans who do it. Written to be read.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. What Fix-am is
Fix-am is a marketplace. We connect customers who need work done with independent artisans who do it. We are not a building, plumbing, electrical or cleaning company, we do not employ the artisans on the platform, and we do not perform the work ourselves.
The contract for any job is between the customer and the artisan. What we provide is the means to find each other, agree a price, communicate, pay safely, and resolve it when something goes wrong.
Fix-am is operated by Masku Technology Limited (RC6992098), a company registered in Nigeria. References to "Fix-am", "we", "us" and "our" in this agreement mean Masku Technology Limited.
2. Your account
By creating an account, you confirm you are at least 18 years old and that the information you provide is accurate. Your phone number identifies your account, so keep access to it. If we find an account belonging to someone under 18, we will delete it.
One account per person. Artisans additionally submit a government-issued ID and a selfie for verification. An artisan can list and take work before that finishes — an unverified artisan simply appears lower in search until approved. If you choose to book one who is not yet verified, that choice and the risk that comes with it are yours.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has access to it, contact us.
3. Booking and payment
A customer describes a job; an artisan responds with a quote. Nothing is committed until the customer accepts a quote.
Paying in the app places the money in escrow. It is released to the artisan when the customer confirms the job is done, or automatically 48 hours after the artisan marks it complete if the customer neither confirms nor raises a dispute.
Customers may also pay the artisan in cash. Cash payments happen entirely between the two of you and are outside our protection — escrow, refunds and dispute-backed remedies do not apply to money we never held.
Emergency callouts carry a ₦1,500 surcharge, shown to the customer before they confirm.
4. Fees
Fix-am does not charge customers to browse, book or chat. The one exception is the ₦1,500 emergency callout surcharge (section 3) — that one is a Fix-am fee, not something paid to the artisan.
Artisans are charged a ₦1,000 lead fee and 8% commission on the job value, both when a job COMPLETES. A lead you decline, or one that falls through, costs nothing. This applies whether the customer paid in the app or in cash.
We will tell you before fees change, and changes never apply to a job already agreed.
5. Cancellation and disputes
Either side may cancel before work begins. Once work has begun, cancelling is a matter to raise in the app.
If a job is not done, is done badly, or does not match what was agreed, raise a dispute before confirming completion. Both sides can submit photos and an account of what happened, and a member of our team decides the outcome — which may be a full refund, a partial split, or release to the artisan.
Our decision on a dispute is final as far as the platform is concerned. It does not affect any right you have to pursue the matter elsewhere.
6. What you may not do
Do not use Fix-am to arrange anything illegal, to harass anyone, or to misrepresent who you are or what you can do.
Do not take a job off the platform to avoid fees. Chat exists so you can agree the details without exchanging numbers; moving a job you found here off it deprives the other person of escrow, dispute protection and a record of what was agreed. We may suspend accounts that do it repeatedly.
Do not post reviews you did not earn, or photos of work that is not yours.
If someone breaks these rules, you can report them from the chat or their profile, and block them so you are never matched into a new booking together again.
7. Content you post
Photos, messages and reviews stay yours. By posting them you allow us to display them where the app needs to — a portfolio photo on your profile, a booking photo to the artisan quoting for it, a review on the profile it is about.
We may remove content that breaks these terms. Reviews are not removed because they are unflattering.
We review every report. Depending on what we find, we may warn, suspend or ban the account involved — see section 8.
8. Suspension
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, or where required by law.
A suspended artisan is still owed everything they have already earned — it continues to be paid out to their bank account as normal once outstanding jobs and disputes are settled.
9. Our responsibility, and its limits
We verify identity, direct when in-app payments are released or refunded, and adjudicate disputes. In-app payments are collected and disbursed by our licensed payment partners, Flutterwave and Paystack — Fix-am does not hold or have custody of your money at any point. A payout to an artisan or a refund to a customer goes straight to their bank account the moment it is due; nothing rests as a balance in the app in between.
We do not supervise the work, guarantee its quality, or accept liability for it — the artisan is an independent tradesperson, not our employee or agent.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
10. Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app, and continuing to use Fix-am after that means you accept them.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
